Super Rugby 2023 live stream every match online in Australia

This year’s Super Rugby season has already kicked off, and while the Aussie teams have gotten off to a slow start, hopes are still high that we can turn it around. Rugby Australia and Fox Sports signing a broadcast deal just two days before Super Rugby Pacific kicks off means you’ll be able to watch the competition in much the same way you’re used to.

How to watch the Super Rugby 2023 season live online

Foxtel has a wide variety of sports to watch across its channels, but it can be expensive, particularly when you factor in the additional cost of the sports package, which doesn’t come as standard on the most affordable Super Rugby on Foxtel Plus or Foxtel Now subscription.

If you’ve resisted signing up for Foxtel because of its premium price tag, a strong sports-focused alternative is Kayo. The streaming service has access to over 50 sports live and on demand, including every Super Rugby game.

The basic Kayo package is AU$25 a month, giving you practically everything Fox Sports has the broadcast rights to – with the ability to watch on two screens at the same time. There’s a free 14-day trial, and no lock-in contracts so you can cancel any time.

Kayo has some added features such as Split View, which allows you to view up to four streams at once on selected devices; watch today’s match live while catching up with replays of ones you may have missed.

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck selection from round one of next year’s Super Rugby Pacific campaign.

Blues head coach Leon MacDonald says cross-code star Roger Tuivasa-Sheck will be available for selection from round one of next year’s Super Rugby Pacific campaign.

Tuivasa-Sheck, the former NRL sensation who left the New Zealand Warriors to pursue a two-year deal with the Blues earlier this year, was named in the Auckland-based side’s squad for 2022 on Monday.

The 28-year-old was one of many headline names in MacDonald’s squad as the Blues prepare to clinch back-to-back titles for the first time since 1997 after ending an 18-year title-less drought by winning Super Rugby Trans-Tasman in June.

A post shared by Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (@tuivasasheck)

The addition of Tuivasa-Sheck – who won an NRL Premiership, the 2018 Dally M Medal and played almost 200 NRL matches – will certainly help MacDonald and the Blues in their bid for more silverware.

That quest kicks-off on February 18 when they host the Fijian Drua, one of two new expansions sides in the revamped competition, at Eden Park, a match of which MacDonald said Tuivasa-Sheck will be in selection contention for.

“In his mind, he’s definitely going to be ready to go in round one. It’s about trying to pull him back instead of push him forward. He’s pretty determined and excited,” MacDonald told media on Monday.

“I think you speak to any players and the coaches, we’re a little bit blown away by how quickly he’s taken to the game. It’s a little bit like he’s never left it. His detail in his preparation is really impressive and his skill set is right up there.

“We thought it might take a while to get him to understand our skill set versus league, with the catch-and-pass, kicking, etcetera, but Roger’s a real pro. He’s been working really hard at that, so he’ll be like the rest of the squad.

“We’re doing some training now, but we’ll be building him up through the next two or three months, so, pre-season one [first pre-season match], he’ll be playing for the Blues, injury permitting, along with everyone in the squad and he’ll be trying to push for that game one starting spot.

“That’s how we’ll be progressing with him, and he wouldn’t want it any other way. He’s just going to put his hand up like everybody else and really try and push for that starting spot in game one.”

How to watch Super Rugby Pacific online in the UK: Now TV with Sky Sports

The best way to watch Super Rugby Pacific is to subscribe to Sky Sports. However, to get this, you’ll need to add Sky Sports (£23/mth) to your existing Sky TV package (see section below). If you don’t have Sky TV, signing up will involve initial setup fees and commitments to long-term contracts. As such, the easiest and cheapest way to watch live streams of the Super Rugby Pacific without committing to any lengthy contracts and set-up fees and is to get a Now TV Sports Pass.

You have two options when subscribing to the Now TV Sky Sports Pass:

  • Now TV Sky Sports Month Pass for £34
  • Now TV Sky Sports Day Pass for £10

These passes give you access to all 11 Sky Sports channels, which means that on top of the Super Rugby Pacific, you can watch the Premier League, Formula One, golf, and even American sports like the NBA and NFL. You can log in to Now TV on up to six devices at the same time. It works on all devices including PCs, mobile phones, tablets, Smart TVs and even gaming consoles.

How to watch Super Rugby Pacific on TV in the UK: Sky Sports

If you’re subscribed to Sky, then you’ll need to add Sky Sports to your existing package. This currently costs £23/mth on an 18-month contract, but you get access to a variety of sports including football, cricket, golf and basketball.

If you already have a Sky subscription, then you’re also entitled to a Sky Go account, which gives you access to Sky Sports, Sky Movies and other top channels such as Sky One and Sky Atlantic on devices besides your TV, along with Sky’s excellent catch-up and on-demand service.

There is a catch, however: Sky Go limits you to three devices, and you can only watch one of these at any one time. If you subscribe to Sky Go Extra, however, you can register up to four devices.

This costs £5 extra on top of your Sky Go subscription. You can add and remove one device each calendar month, so if you’re likely to be following the action on multiple devices, make sure you’ve planned in advance which ones you’re likely to be using at any given time.

Canadians will be able to watch Super Rugby Pacific

Super Rugby Pacific Live on TSN has confirmed that they are now airing Super Rugby Pacific.

Super Rugby’s return in limited form, as the New Zealand-based Super Rugby Aotearoa, begins this weekend.

The Land of the Long White Cloud has done such a good job using its geographic isolation, along with an aggressive lockdown approach, that COVID-19 has simply ceased to exist there.

On top of the to-be-expected TV broadcasts, there will be fans in the stadiums when the games kick off between New Zealand’s five Super Rugby teams this weekend.

But whether fans in Canada will be able to watch on their TVs remains unclear.

super rugby Pacific

In normal times, the SANZAAR-run Super Rugby competition is available in Canada through TSN’s online streaming service. The last round played before the whole world went into lockdown, on March 13, was actually aired on TSN’s regular channels. SANZAAR, which was formed in 1996 by the Australia, New Zealand and South Africa rugby boards,  is the body which oversees Super Rugby and The Rugby Championship competitions in Rugby Union

Super Rugby Pacific is also run by SANZAAR, so it stands to reason that the rights deal that has brought the world’s best club competition to the Great White North should apply.

But sources has confirmed this isn’t exactly clear. It’s not about TSN, rather it’s about ESPN. The American broadcaster holds the Americas-wide rights to Super Rugby and sub-licences to local broadcasters where necessary, like with TSN. ESPN is a minority owner of Canada’s sports leader.

And ESPN is in talks with SANZAAR about the rights for Super Rugby Pacific.

TSN PR has not been able to provide a definitive answer to multiple queries on the matter, simply saying they were looking into it. An email to ESPN PR, asking about the rights situation, has not yet drawn a response.
