Super Rugby fixtures and TV schedule for 2023

Below you can see the playing schedules, along with the TV and streaming options, for the Super Rugby competitions. We also have a guide to watching rugby available, so you can keep up with all tournaments and leagues.

The old competition of three pools of five teams in an Australian Conference, New Zealand Conference and South African Conference is officially gone for 2023. It is hoped that will return in 2023.

In the new format, the five Australian teams will play each other twice. The top four teams will then qualify for a finals series, with the grand final slated for 19 September.

The 2023 season will be historic for rugby in the Pacific region with the introduction of the Fijian Drua and Moana Pasifika who will join New Zealand’s five clubs and Australia’s five clubs in a 12-team tournament.

The 12 participating teams will not be divided into geographical conferences, instead playing 14 regular season games: the 12 teams facing each other once in a home-and-away format for 11 games, and the remaining 3 games to be played with an emphasis on derby matches; with the Fijian Drua likely to be associated with the Australian sides and Moana Pasifika with the New Zealand sides, given they will be based there.

It is likely that the Drua and Moana Pasifika will also develop a new rivalry between them, being both the two Pacific Island teams represented in and the two teams new to the competition, leading to their games becoming derby matches.

Teams will play eight teams once and three teams twice with an emphasis on derby matches. There will be one points table with teams ranked one to 12 based on competition points. The top eight teams on the points table will qualify for a three-week playoff format.

The new competition format will involve the five New Zealand franchises playing eight matches each. They will play four home and four away, with two byes. There will be two games per week, with kick-off at 7:05pm on Saturday and 3:35pm on Sunday local time (5:05pm AEST and 1:35pm AEST).
